Painting and art in general are important to me. I paint with oil paints.
I want to paint paintings that are as good as possible, so the end result is important to me, not just enjoying painting. I paint using photographs as source material, i.e. as a model for my paintings. Most of the time the photos I use are taken by me, I think they are of higher quality and better for my purpose. It is not always possible to use self-taken photographs, for example, if I want an animal such as a deer or an owl in my painting, then I buy the photos from a photo bank from professional photographers, it is the second best option after shooting yourself. In my paintings, the main subject is a naked woman in the middle of the picture in a pose that I find interesting. There are props with the naked woman such as a pink swimming ring, white lilies, a Hennessy advertising light, a Jeep cap, a pride flag or the Ukrainian flag. Props have a pop-artistic and symbolic dimension to me. As a background, I use nature photographs that I have photographed myself. I have taken nature photos in Lohja, Finland. And nude female models in a studio in Helsinki. I paint my paintings for a very long time, at one time I may paint a lot, but there are long periods when the paintings just dry on the wall. I paint in my studio in Helsinki, where I have my painting equipment and suitable premises.
I name my paintings after the names of the pieces of music that suit me. At the moment I am working on four large oil paintings, the height of which is from floor to ceiling on the wall, i.e. about 245cm, and the width of the canvas is about 155cm. I feel that the size of the canvas I use is good, in relation to the space of the studio and allows many paintings to fit next to each other.
